Web Security & SSL
What is SSL and HTTPS?
Your searches are secure and private when your website includes Secure Sockets Layer (SSL).
SSL encrypts the connection between your computer and Google. This helps prevent others, like Internet cafes, Internet Service Providers, and Wi-Fi hotspots, from seeing your search results page and login information.
When an SSL is properly registered with your domain your domain changes from HTTP://www.yourdomainname.com to HTTPS://www.yourdomainname.com.
What will happen if I don't convert to HTTPS?
Passwords and credit cards are not the only types of data that should be private.
Google Chrome shows a "Not Secure" warning for all pages served over HTTP, regardless of whether or not the page contains input fields.
