Single Line Break

It may not solve all the world’s problems, but it can save you from picking a fight with your “Enter” key.  Don’t worry; we’ve all been there before your secret’s safe with us.

How to Do It

If you want to force a line break simply hold down the |Shift Key| and the |Enter Key| at the same time and watch the magic happen.

When to Do It

Simply pressing the enter key creates a new paragraph and potentially 2 line breaks instead of just the one.  The same goes for pressing enter in a bulleted or numbered list.

You can force a line break and add a line of text without a new number or bullet by holding Shift+Enter.
For example:

  1. Pressing enter after this text
  2. Creates a new number and new line of text

But if you use Shift+Enter

  1. Pressing Shift+Enter after this text
just forces a line break for me; but if I press Enter now
  2. I get my next number.

It may take some practice; it may seem a bit awkward at first, but once you’ve got it Shift+Enter will be your new best friend!
